Rainy Days Bring Big Growth

With all the rain we have had lately, our corn crops are loving it β€” and so are we! The recent showers have come at just the right time, helping our corn grow tall, green, and strong. Just from glancing at the fields, it is easy to see how much they have shot up in the past few weeks. This kind of healthy, steady growth is exactly what every farmer hopes for each season, and it is a great sign for months ahead.

Why This Matters to Our Cows

Why does this tall, healthy corn matter so much to us? This corn plays a vital role in feeding our cows. As the corn matures, we harvest and process it into high-quality feed that gives our cows the nutrition they need to stay healthy and productive. Good feed leads to strong animals and a more sustainable farm overall. It is a simple equation: thriving crops means thriving livestock. To find out more on how this corn is implemented in our cows diets, our blog from last month, “What Do Our Cows Eat? A Look at Their Diet?”, is a great place to start.

Looking Ahead to Harvest

In the meantime, we are continuing to monitor our crop and planning ahead to harvest time later this summer. Farming is all about timing and balance, and as of right now we are right where we need to be! Around here, harvest usually kicks off in July β€” an exciting time when months of care and hard work finally pay off. You will see combines rolling through golden fields, dust rising in the summer heat, and loads of freshly harvested cornstalk begin to be gathered. It’s a busy season, but one we look forward to every year.

Through every season our goal is to produce strong, healthy corn that helps feed our cows. We truly appreciate all the questions and interest in how our corn is growing, and we love sharing our work with you. If you’re ever curious to learn more, we’re always happy to answer your questions!
