Job Summary:
The Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing various laboratory tests and procedures to ensure the quality and safety of milk and milk products. This role involves working closely with the production and bottling crews, maintaining accurate records, and adhering to state testing requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Laboratory Testing:
- Use laboratory equipment to test milk for fat content and cryoscope analysis of finished products.
- Plate samples of raw milk and finished products for quality assurance testing.
- Conduct stress tests on products to ensure quality standards are met.
- Data Management:
- Proficiently use Excel, Word, and Outlook to fill out certificates of analysis and send them to the respective recipients.
- Enter and track plate data in Excel for certificates of analysis in a timely and efficient manner.
- Quality Control:
- Collaborate with the production supervisor on quality control activities, including locating retention samples for customer complaints and other quality-related issues.
- Brainstorm and implement solutions to improve product quality or identify the root cause of quality deficits.
- Sample Management:
- Obtain and label samples of finished products for state testing.
- Send samples of raw milk and finished products to the state for testing.
- Work closely with the bottling crew to obtain finished samples for testing.
- Coordinate with the late crew to obtain finished bulk product samples for testing.
- Wastewater Monitoring:
- Monitor the lagoon and keep track of the amount of wastewater being deposited.
- Test the pH of wastewater and send results to the main office for reporting.
Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong multitasking skills and the ability to work closely with various teams.
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a laboratory setting, preferably within the food or dairy industry.
- Knowledge of quality assurance processes and procedures.
- Familiarity with state testing requirements and procedures.
Working Conditions:

- Exposure to dairy products and cleaning chemicals.
